AU of the AU: Mallow Hallow Snippets
This is an interesting category of fics, if only for one reason -- these fics are not from tumblr. Weird, right? Well, for a little while around late 2012 and into 2013, I was RPing Forgotten Vows on Dreamwidth as well. And for an even shorter period of time during that stint, I was in a game! Called Mallow Hallow, it was your standard jamjar-style game of "character is mysteriously pulled into this weird new world and has to learn how to adjust and get along with their fellows." Ours wasn't the "spooky" type, but rather a "pick your own weirdness" -- from a land made of pillows, to a super-tech world, to a place where dreams literally came to life. I ended up dropping Victor in that latter one (called Astralfield), pulling him from a point between "Remembering You" and "Fixing You" so he'd be sane enough to interact with people and yet still have enough unresolved issues for character development. We had a decent run, and he made some friends, but the game sadly eventually crashed and burned when the original mods ran out of time and plot ideas to run it. In fact, I actually took over for a short while near the end in an attempt to rekindle interest -- but it was already too little, too late. Most of the players had jumped ship, and I couldn't get any new ones on board. Without anyone to participate, the whole thing faded away. Not long after, I started concentrating on tumblr RP more, and Forgotten Vows's Dreamwidth journal fell to the wayside.
The experience was not all for naught, though. Inspired by the world, and the shenanigans a displaced Victorian noodle-boy could get up to in it, I wrote some scenes showing Victor adjusting to his life in Astralfield. Two are nice, slice of lifey stuff, one is bittersweet, and one --
One is unpleasant in the same way "Return to Nightmares" was unpleasant. Sorry. Still, I hope you enjoy this look at Victor in a place very far away from home.
